Chill the Glass
Place a chilled rocks glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to cool while preparing the cocktail.

Prepare the Glass with Absinthe
In a separate glass, add the absinthe. Swirl it around to coat the interior of the glass, then discard the excess absinthe.

In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the Sazerac Rye Whiskey, simple syrup, and Peychaud's bitters. Stir well until chilled.
