Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Start by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit for a few minutes.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

  3. 3

    Add Ice (Optional)

If you prefer your drink colder, add 3 ice cubes to the mixing glass.

  4. 4

    Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds. This will chill and dilute the drink slightly.

  5. 5

    Strain into Glass

Remove the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass. Strain the mixed drink into the glass using a fine mesh strainer or a cocktail strainer.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Garnish the drink with a cherry and a strip of orange peel. Express the orange peel over the drink to release its oils before dropping it in.
