Preparing the Shrimp

Boil the Shrimp
In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the pot and then drop the lemon halves into the water.

Cook the Shrimp
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, add 1 pound of large Gulf shrimp. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque.

Peel and Devein
Once cooled, peel the shrimp and devein them if necessary. Set aside.
Making the Cocktail Sauce

Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 5 dashes of Tabasco sauce.

Stir the mixture well until all ingredients are combined. Taste and add salt to your preference.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the cocktail sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
