Main Ingredients

For Frying

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crab Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, eggs, breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Mix carefully to avoid breaking up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the crab mixture for at least 30 minutes. This will help the mixture firm up, making it easier to form into cakes.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Shape the Crab Cakes

After chilling, remove the mixture from the refrigerator. Using your hands, shape the mixture into round cakes, about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. You should get about 8 cakes.

  2. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. You should have enough oil to coat the bottom of the skillet.

  3. 5

    Fry the Crab Cakes

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
