Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the Bone-In Ribeye Steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides generously with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, and rosemary. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to high heat or heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil to the skillet if using.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Once the grill or pan is hot, place the steak on it. For medium-rare, cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side without moving it. Flip the steak and cook for another 5-6 minutes on the other side.

  3. 5

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130-135°F (54-57°C).

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thick slices and serve immediately.
