Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients and slice the onions and mushrooms.

  2. 2

    Cook the Mushrooms and Onions

In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Burger Patty

In the same skillet, add the 8oz Angus beef patty. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place the Swiss cheese slices on top of the patty to melt.

  4. 4

    Toast the Bread

In another skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the slices of sourdough or rye bread and toast them on both sides until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Patty Melt

Spread garlic aioli on one side of each toasted bread slice. Place the burger patty on one slice, top with the sautéed mushrooms and onions, then place the other slice of bread on top, garlic aioli side down.

  6. 6

    Serve

Cut the patty melt in half and serve immediately with French fries on the side.
