Country Fried Steak & Eggs

Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet, heat the bacon grease or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the coated cube steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

  3. 3

    Make the Sausage Gravy

In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium-low and add the sausage. Cook until browned and crumbled. Add flour to the skillet and stir for 1-2 minutes to cook the flour. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 4

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Crack and cook the eggs to your liking (sunny-side up, over-easy, etc.).

  5. 5

    Assemble the Plate

Place each cooked steak on a plate, smother with sausage gravy, and top with two eggs. Serve immediately.
