Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough begins to form, then transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Prepare Toppings

Slice the fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Tear the basil leaves into smaller pieces.

  3. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll or stretch it out into a 12-inch circle.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Transfer the shaped dough to a piece of parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil over the surface, then add the sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and season with salt and black pepper.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven, add fresh basil leaves on top, slice, and serve hot.
