Preparation of Topping

Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a medium mixing bowl.

Minced Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Add to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.

Add Basil
Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl.

Season the Mixture
Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the tomato mixture and stir well to combine. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Slice the Baguette
Cut the baguette into 1/2 inch slices on a diagonal.

Toast the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the sliced baguette on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the toasted bread from the oven. Spoon the tomato mixture generously over each slice.
