Directions
- 1
Prepare the Sticky Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes until it becomes translucent and sticky.
- 2
Prepare the Pork Filling
In a bowl, combine the ground pork, cooked black beans, Vietnamese black pepper, fish sauce, minced garlic, and chopped green onions. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Season with salt to taste.
- 3
Form the Patties
Once the sticky rice is cooked, remove it from the steamer and let it cool slightly. Wet your hands to prevent sticking, then take a small handful of rice and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center and then mold the rice around the filling to form a patty. Repeat this process until all the rice and filling have been used.
- 4
Fry the Patties
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the patties to the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden and crispy. Remove the patties and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 5
Serve
Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on top of the patties and serve warm. Enjoy your Sticky Rice Patties with a side of dipping sauce or fresh vegetables.
