Paratha Recipe
An Indian bread made with whole wheat dough. Served plain or stuffed with boiled, mashed and spiced potatoes, vegetables or cottage cheese. Garnished with plain yoghurt, butter or aachar (pickles).

Make the Dough

Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, and oil or ghee. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Prepare the Stuffing (Optional)

Make the Potato Filling
Mash the boiled potatoes in a bowl. Add cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and set aside.
Cook the Paratha

Roll and Cook
Divide the dough into equal portions. If using stuffing, flatten each portion, place a spoonful of stuffing in the center, and seal it. Roll it out into a flat disc. Heat a skillet over medium heat, place the rolled paratha on it, and cook until golden brown on both sides, brushing with oil or ghee as needed.
