Prepare the Poppy Seed Paste
In a small bowl, soak the poppy seeds in warm water for about 15 minutes. Then drain and blend with a little water to form a smooth paste. Set aside.

Add Garlic and Ginger
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.

Cook the Chicken
Add the chicken pieces to the pan. Sprinkle turmeric and cumin powder over the chicken, and cook until the chicken is browned on all sides.

Incorporate Coconut Milk
Pour in the coconut milk and add the slit green chilies. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Add Poppy Seed Paste
Stir in the prepared poppy seed paste and season with salt to taste. Simmer on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.

Once the chicken is cooked, remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro leaves before serving.
