Fish and Marinade

Method

Preparation and Marination

  1. 1

    Marinate the Fish

In a bowl, combine the fish fillets with turmeric powder, red chili powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Prepare the Gravy

In a large pan, heat coconut oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add curry leaves.

  2. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. 4

    Cook the Tomatoes

Add chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they soften and the oil separates from the mixture.

  4. 5

    Add Coconut Milk

Pour in the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Add garam masala and adjust salt as needed.

  5. 6

    Cook the Fish

Gently slide the marinated fish fillets into the gravy. Cover and cook on low heat for about 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.

  6. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or appams.
