Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Rub
In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Season the Pork
Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- 3
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the meat is tender and shreds easily.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat.
- 5
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, add BBQ sauce to taste, and mix well. Let it warm through for about 15 minutes.
- 6
Serve
Serve the pulled pork on buns, topped with additional BBQ sauce, or alongside your favorite sides.
