Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tteok

If the rice cakes are frozen, soak them in warm water for about 10-20 minutes to soften them. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fish Cake

Cut the fish cake into bite-sized pieces and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil until well combined.

  2. 4

    Cook the Rice Cakes

In a large skillet or wok, add the water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the softened rice cakes and cook for about 5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add the Fish Cake

Add the fish cake pieces to the skillet and stir well. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

  4. 6

    Combine with Sauce

Pour the sauce mixture over the rice cakes and fish cake in the skillet. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and the rice cakes are fully heated through.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy your Tteokbokki!
