Prepare the Tteok
If the rice cakes are frozen, soak them in warm water for about 10-20 minutes to soften them. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Fish Cake
Cut the fish cake into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
Cooking

Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil until well combined.

Cook the Rice Cakes
In a large skillet or wok, add the water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the softened rice cakes and cook for about 5 minutes.

Add the Fish Cake
Add the fish cake pieces to the skillet and stir well. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Combine with Sauce
Pour the sauce mixture over the rice cakes and fish cake in the skillet. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and the rice cakes are fully heated through.
Serving

Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy your Tteokbokki!
