Fried Chicken

Method

Fried Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

Soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Coat the Chicken

Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chicken

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken for about 15 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Shrimp and Grits

  1. 5

    Cook the Grits

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add grits, reduce heat, and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute, then add shrimp, salt, and pepper. Cook until shrimp turn pink.

  3. 7

    Combine and Serve

Stir in cheese and green onions to the grits. Serve shrimp over the cheesy grits.

Jambalaya

    Cook the Vegetables

In a large pot, sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery until softened.

  2. 9

    Add the Meat and Spices

Add diced chicken, sausage, garlic, and Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 5 minutes.

  3. 10

    Finish the Jambalaya
