Cake Directions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and bourbon. Mix until smooth.
- 4
Combine Wet and Dry
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the black cherry preserves.
- 5
Bake the Cakes
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 7
Prepare the Topping
While the cakes cool, prepare the Amereno Cherries and cherry syrup as a topping.
- 8
Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread some cherry syrup and Amereno cherries on top, then place the second layer on top and repeat.
- 9
Serve
Slice and serve your Black Cherry Bourbon Cake, optionally drizzling more cherry syrup on top.
