Directions
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Cut the queso blanco or mozzarella cheese into thick slices, about 1/2 inch thick.
- 2
Coat the Cheese
In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Dredge each slice of cheese in the cornstarch mixture to coat.
- 3
Prepare the Egg Wash
In another bowl, beat the egg. Dip each cornstarch-coated cheese slice into the egg, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 4
Coat with Breadcrumbs
Next, coat the egg-dipped cheese slices in gluten-free breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Cheese
Carefully place the breaded cheese slices into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cheese from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with sour cream and salsa on the side.
