Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Shape the ground beef mixture into a round patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patty on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and add the cheese slice on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium.

  4. 4

    Toast the Bun

While the patty is cooking, cut the burger bun in half and lightly toast it on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slice, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
