Ingredients for Turtle Mac & Cheese

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet, cook the thick cut bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Once cool, chop into small pieces.

  3. 3

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Add the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and monterey jack cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheese sauce, and chopped bacon. Mix well to coat the pasta evenly.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, crush the corn flakes slightly and mix with a tablespoon of melted butter for added flavor. Sprinkle evenly over the mac and cheese mixture.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Turtle Mac & Cheese!
