Ribeye Steak Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Rub each steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic and Rosemary

Peel and crush the garlic cloves slightly with the flat side of a knife. Set aside. Prepare the fresh rosemary by removing the leaves from the stem and setting them aside.

  4. 4

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until it is hot. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the pan and swirl to coat the bottom.

  5. 5

    Sear the Steaks

Add the ribeye steaks to the hot pan. Sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a nice brown crust forms.

  6. 6

    Flip and Add Flavorings

Flip the steaks over and add the crushed garlic, rosemary, and butter to the pan. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the melted butter and juices.

  7. 7

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, the temperature should be around 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time according to your preferred doneness.

  8. 8

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the pan and transfer them to a cutting board. Let them rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  9. 9

    Serve

Slice the steaks against the grain and serve immediately with your choice of sides.
