Dumplings
Method
Dumplings Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the water while mixing with your hand or a wooden spoon until a dough begins to form.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped green onions, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are well combined.
- 4
Roll the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into small pieces (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each piece into a thin circle on a floured surface, about 3 inches in diameter.
- 5
Fill the Dumplings
Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- 6
Cook the Dumplings
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet and fry for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- 7
Steam the Dumplings
Add 1 cup of water to the skillet, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Steam the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
- 8
Serve
Remove the lid and let any remaining water evaporate. Serve the dumplings hot with additional soy sauce for dipping.
