Directions
- 1
Caramelize the Onions
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef Patty
In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.

Assemble the Patty Melt
Place a slice of rye bread on a clean surface. Top with a cooked beef patty, caramelized onions, and two slices of muenster cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread to create a sandwich.

Cook the Sandwich
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Add more butter if necessary.
