Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Mozzarella
Start by placing the mozzarella cheese sticks in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to make them firmer and easier to bread.
Breading Process
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
Prepare three shallow dishes: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Mozzarella
Take a frozen mozzarella stick, first coat it in flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Repeat for all the cheese sticks.
- 4
Chill Again
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze them for another 15-20 minutes to help the breading adhere while frying.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test it by dropping a small piece of breading into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
- 6
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add a few breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.
