Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Crab Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh lump crab meat, bread crumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice. Gently fold the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.
- 2
Add Vegetables
Add the chopped green onions and finely chopped red bell pepper to the crab mixture. Fold gently until the vegetables are evenly distributed.
- 3
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the crab mixture for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This allows the flavors to meld together and makes the mixture easier to shape.
Cooking

Form the Crab Cakes
After chilling, remove the crab mixture from the refrigerator. Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Place the formed patties on a plate.
- 5
Cook the Crab Cakes
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and heated through.
- 6
Serve
Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
