Method

Preparing the Mussels

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the fresh Alaskan mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any sand or debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Broth and Wine

Pour in the dry white wine and chicken broth to the pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Add Bloody Mary Mix

Stir in the Charleston Bloody Mary mix, salt, and black pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Cook the Mussels

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Stir in the fresh parsley, and remove the pot from heat.

Making the Butter Toast Points

  1. 7

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the French baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 8

    Butter the Slices

Melt the unsalted butter and brush it generously over each slice of baguette.

  3. 9

    Toast the Bread

Arrange the buttered slices on a baking sheet and place them under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
