Prepare the Calamari

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Coat the Calamari

Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Fry the Vegetables

In the same oil, fry the sliced banana peppers and onions for 1-2 minutes until crispy. Remove and drain.

Serve

Plate the fried calamari with the crispy banana peppers and onions on top. Serve with BBQ aioli, sweet chili sauce, and lemon wedges on the side.
