Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed until it becomes smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Add Coffee Flavor

Gradually add the brewed espresso coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) into the mascarpone mixture. Continue to mix until well combined and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Chill the Filling

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the filling for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Layering and Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Ladyfingers

In a shallow dish, pour some of the remaining brewed espresso coffee (about 100 ml). Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 5

    Layer the Tiramisu

In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.

  3. 6

    Repeat the Layers

Add another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  4. 7

    Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight. Before serving, sift cocoa powder over the top for garnish.
