Method

Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Flavor

In the last minute of cooking, add the butter, crushed garlic cloves, and thyme sprigs to the skillet. Baste the steak with the melted butter for extra flavor.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Chips

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips resembling chips.

  2. 7

    Soak the Chips

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

  4. 9

    Fry the Chips

Drain and pat dry the soaked potatoes. Fry them in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

Side Salad

  1. 10

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and chopped cucumber.

  2. 11

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle over the salad and toss to coat.
