Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rye Sour

In a bowl, mix rye flour with 2 cups of warm water. Stir well and cover with a cloth. Let it ferment at room temperature for 2-3 days until it becomes sour.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

In a large pot, add the smoked sausage and cover with 2 cups of water. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 20 minutes. Remove the sausage, chop into small pieces, and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same pot, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

  4. 4

    Add Potatoes and Seasonings

Peel and dice the potatoes, then add them to the pot along with bay leaves, marjoram, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the remaining 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the fermented rye mixture to the pot and stir well. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  6. 6

    Serve the Soup

Ladle the soup into bowls. Top with chopped sausage, sliced hard-boiled eggs, and fresh dill. Serve warm.
