Shrimp

Method

Prepare the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Clean the Shrimp

Rinse the peeled and deveined shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and cold water until well combined.

  4. 4

    Mix Batter

Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Fry the Shrimp

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Coat the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

  3. 7

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully place the coated shrimp into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 9

    Mix Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well blended.

  2. 10

    Season to Taste

Add salt and black pepper to the cocktail sauce to taste.

Serve

  1. 11

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter.

  2. 12

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the shrimp hot with the cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
