Pasta

Method

Pasta

  1. 1

    Prepare Lasagna Noodles

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside.

Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Cook Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 3

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Mixture

  1. 5

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Layer Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and then a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with a final layer of noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

  2. 7

    Bake

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
