Method
Chicken Marinade
- 1
Prepare Marinade
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Flour Coating
- 3
Mix Coating Ingredients
In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 4
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Allow excess marinade to drip off, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
Frying
- 5
Heat Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Use enough oil to submerge the chicken pieces halfway.
- 6
Fry Chicken
Once the oil is hot (about 350°F or 175°C), carefully add the chicken pieces in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- 7
Fry the chicken for about 12-15 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 8
Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.
