Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

Add Assorted Flavors
Fold in your choice of mix-ins, such as chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.

Chill Dough
Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake Cookies
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
