Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Whisk together until well mixed.

Combine Both Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting
In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar while mixing, then add the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Beat until fluffy.

Frost the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Slice the cake and serve to your guests, enjoying the rich chocolate flavor and creamy frosting.
