Turkey

Method

Assembly and finish

  1. 1

    Prepare the turkey

If using raw turkey, slow-roast the turkey breast or leg until tender and pull into shreds. For already cooked turkey, gently reheat in a skillet with a splash of stock or water, then shred the meat with two forks.

  2. 2

    Toast the bread

Lightly toast the sandwich buns or bread until lightly golden to add crunch and warmth.

  3. 3

    Condiment base

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each cut side of the bread. This adds moisture and richness without overpowering the turkey.

  4. 4

    Assemble the base

Lay a couple of lettuce leaves on the bottom bun to create a crisp layer and prevent sogginess.

  5. 5

    Add cheese and turkey

Place the provolone slices on the lettuce, then pile on the slow-roasted hand-pulled turkey evenly across the bottom half.

  6. 6

    Add vegetables

Top the turkey with tomato slices and thin onion rings. Lightly season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

  7. 7

    Finish and serve

Place the top bun over the fillings, press gently, and slice the sandwich in half if desired. Serve immediately for best texture.
