Capastrami
Method
Capastrami
- 1
Prepare bread and fillings
Lightly toast rye bread slices until just golden. Lay out two slices for the sandwich. Layer Swiss cheese on the bottom slice so it begins to melt from residual heat.
- 2
Warm the pastrami
In a skillet over medium heat, briefly warm the pastrami slices until steaming but not dried out, then remove from heat.
- 3
Assemble the sandwich
Spread Russian dressing on the top side of the bottom bread slice. Layer warmed pastrami over the cheese, add coleslaw on top of the pastrami for crunch, then crown with the second slice of bread, dressing side down against the fillings.

- 5
Serve
Remove from pan, cut diagonally, and serve immediately with an extra dollop of Russian dressing if desired.
