    Prepare the Simple Syrup

    In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1 cup each) and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Allow to cool and store in the refrigerator.

    Prep the Ingredients

    Gather all your ingredients. Wash the basil leaves and cucumber slices thoroughly.

Mixing the Margarita

    Combine Ingredients

    In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, simple syrup, fresh basil leaves, and cucumber slices.

    Shake

    Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

    Prepare the Glass

    Moisten the rim of a chilled margarita glass with a lime wedge and dip it into salt to coat the rim.

    Strain and Serve

    Strain the mixture into the prepared margarita glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and a basil sprig.
