Method
Cooking the Beef
- 1
Brown the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Add Taco Seasoning
Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef and stir to combine. Add 1/4 cup of water and simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Preparing the Toppings
- 3
- 4
Prepare the Cheese
Measure out 1 cup of shredded cheese and set aside for assembly.
- 5
Prepare Pico de Gallo
If using store-bought pico de gallo, ensure it is ready. If making homemade, combine diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice, and salt in a bowl.
Assembling the Tacos
- 6
Warm the Tortillas
In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side to make them pliable.
- 7
Build the Tacos
On each tortilla, layer a generous spoonful of the seasoned beef, followed by lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, shredded cheese, and a scoop of pico de gallo.
Serving
- 8
Serve the Tacos
Serve immediately while warm, with any additional toppings or sides of your choice, such as sour cream or guacamole.
