Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, and stir until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Sift in Dry Ingredients

Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, and gently fold until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly moist.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve dusted with powdered sugar or with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
