Breadstick Instructions

1. Prepare the Yeast

In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

3. Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5. Shape the Breadsticks

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the risen dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into strips and shape into breadsticks.

6. Second Rise

Place the shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a cloth and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.

7. Bake the Breadsticks

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

8. Add Toppings

Brush the melted butter on top of the breadsticks and sprinkle with garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, and Parmesan cheese.

9. Serve
