Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in the baking dish.
- 2
Make the Custard
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- 3
Combine and Add Chocolate
Pour the custard mixture over the torn bread, making sure to soak all the pieces. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- 4
Bake
Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the custard. Then, bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the top is set and slightly golden.
- 5
Serve
Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
