Directions
- 1
Prepare Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the espresso at this stage.
- 2
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine 500g of mascarpone cheese, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- 4
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso mixture for about 1-2 seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a rectangular dish.
- 5
Layer the Mascarpone Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
- 6
Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture, smoothing the top layer evenly.
- 7
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 8
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings over it. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
