Pork Marinade

For the Sandwich

Method

Preparing the Pork

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil. Mix well to create a marinade. Coat the pork shoulder evenly with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it with aluminum foil. Cook in the preheated oven for 4-6 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C) and the meat is tender. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces. Discard any excess fat.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

While the pork is resting, cut the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

  2. 5

    Build the Sandwich

Place a generous amount of shredded pork on the bottom half of each bun. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the pork and top with coleslaw if using. Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
