Pickle Fries

Method

Pickle Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Slice the large dill pickles into fry-shaped wedges, about 1/4 inch thick. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles

Dredge each pickle fry first in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the breaded pickle fries to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, fresh chives, and lemon juice.

  2. 7

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the ranch dressing and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed.

  3. 8

    Chill

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
