Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peaches

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel and slice the fresh peaches, removing the pits. Place the sliced peaches in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Filling

Add granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the bowl with peaches. Toss until the peaches are well coated. Set aside.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly blended.

  2. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, stir together the milk, melted (but slightly cooled) unsalted butter, and vanilla extract.

  3. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Assemble the Cobbler

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, pour the batter evenly over the bottom. Spoon the peach filling evenly over the batter.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve A La Mode

Allow the cobbler to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious A La Mode experience.
