Method

Prepare the Mac n Cheese

  1. 1

    Cook Macaroni

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the macaroni pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk to form a roux for about 2 minutes. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add cheddar cheese and chopped jalapeños to the sauce, stirring until melted. Mix in the cooked macaroni and combine well.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Spread the mac n cheese mixture into a greased dish and refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. Once firm, shape into small patties and coat in breadcrumbs.

  5. 5

    Fry the Patties

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the mac n cheese patties until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Cook the Burger Patties

  1. 6

    Form Patties

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 7

    Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 9

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 10

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a beef patty with melted cheese. Add a fried mac n cheese patty on top.

  3. 11

    Finish Assembly

Top with tomato slices, bacon strips, and drizzle with queso. Cover with the top bun.
