Chopped Brisket

Method

Preparation of Brisket

  1. 1

    Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 2

    Season the Brisket

Rub the brisket with smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet, sear the brisket on both sides over medium-high heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes per side.

  4. 4

    Add Ingredients to Baking Dish

Place the seared brisket in a baking dish. Pour beef broth over the brisket and add diced onion and minced garlic.

  5. 5

    Cover and Bake

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Shred the Brisket

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Shred the brisket using two forks.

  2. 7

Warm Tortillas or Prepare Lettuce Cups

If using corn tortillas, warm them on a skillet over low heat for about 1 minute per side. If using lettuce cups, prepare them by washing and drying the leaves.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Dish

Take a tortilla or lettuce cup, fill it with shredded brisket, and top with pico de gallo, queso fresco, sour cream, and shredded lettuce.

  4. 9

    Add Guacamole (Optional)

If desired, add a scoop of guacamole on top of the assembled brisket tacos or cups.

  5. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your chopped brisket in tortillas or lettuce cups!
