Bread Pudding

Caramel Sauce

Method

Bread Pudding Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the day-old bread into 1-inch cubes and place in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Make the Custard Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, bourbon, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Bread and Custard

Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently stir until all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.

  4. 4

    Bake the Pudding

Transfer the bread mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip on high speed until soft peaks form.

Caramel Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar. Stir constantly until it melts and turns a deep amber color.

  2. 7

    Add Butter and Cream

Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the butter until melted. Then slowly whisk in the heavy cream until smooth. Add a pinch of salt.
