Prepare the Slaw
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded carrot, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Make the Remoulade
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, hot sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Set aside.

Prepare the Cod
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the tempura batter mix and cold water until smooth. Dip each cod fillet in the batter until fully coated.

Fry the Cod
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the battered cod fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Assemble the Sandwich
Spread the Old Bay remoulade on the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Layer with fried cod fillet, slaw, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve the Nashville hot fish sandwiches immediately with extra hot sauce if desired.
